New Herioc-size 7-foot Bronze Statue Veterans Memorial headed to City of Grandview Heights, Ohio - Created by Matt Glenn lead Sculptor for Big Statues LLC Provo, Utah
City of Grandview Heights, Ohio (PRWEB) January 31, 2015 -- The City of Grandview Heights Marine Memorial
The City of Grandview Heights Marine Corps War Memorial monument near Columbus, Ohio will be dedicated on Memorial Day on May 21, 2015. The monument was created to honor the members of the United States Marine Corps who have served and given their lives in defense of the United States.
The statue consists of a life-sized soldier in full combat gear standing over a fallen soldier battle cross. The sculpture is entirely crafted from bronze. The overall height of the monument, including the base, is 7 feet tall. The soldier stands atop a jumble of rocks with his hand resting on a battle cross, representing all fallen soldiers. Depicted in a World War II uniform, the statue captures the Marine Corps best qualities.
Mathew Glenn, the sculptor and designer, used the authentic M-1 carbine rifle and World War II boots provide by Dr. T. J. WILLIAMS as well as historical photographs and records as source material for the rendering. The division’s powerful motto, “Semper Fidelis,” or “always faithful” inspired him. While creating the statue, the artist kept the motto in mind.
“I wanted the soldier to look brave, strong, and powerful to everyone that visits the monument,” said Glenn. “Statues like this marine always have a huge impact; it reminds everyone who sees it of the incredible freedoms we enjoy every day in this wonderful country.”
