This will add OB/GYN to an area that is underserved right now, as there aren't many OBGYNs in the county. I’m hoping to expand the community’s choice of who they want to see and which hospital they’d like to be affiliated with.
Landing, NJ (PRWEB) February 02, 2015
Joseph P. Maugeri, M.D., FACOG moved back to the roots of his practice in Landing, NJ last year on March 1. Now, as of Jan. 8, 2015 Dr. Maugeri will begin splitting his time between Landing and Skylands Medical Group's Andover office in Newton, NJ.
Though most of Dr. Maugeri's time will still be spent at Skylands Medical Group’s Lakeside Boulevard OB/GYN clinic, he will begin visiting the Andover Clinic every other Thursday from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m.
“This will add OB/GYN to an area that is underserved right now, as there aren't many OBGYNs in the county," Dr. Maugeri explained. "I’m hoping to expand the community’s choice of who they want to see and which hospital they’d like to be affiliated with.”
Dr. Maugeri is an OB/GYN physician who provides women with prenatal care, pregnancy and post pregnancy support and care during menopause and early puberty. He administers annual checkups and exams, performs surgeries at hospitals, and can monitor women through an entire pregnancy.
Because Dr. Maugeri has worked in the field of obstetrics and gynecology for 22 years, often in the same area of New Jersey, he's watched several patients grow up from early adolescence to motherhood.
For a brief period of time, he left the Landing area to practice about 20 miles west, but ended up moving back when he realized that Landing was where he wanted to be.
“It has been a wonderful experience seeing all my old friends again and redeveloping those relationships with coworkers," Dr. Maugeri said of moving back to Landing. "It’s been good, and to me, being here is a better fit for the patients in terms of the availability and type of care that I can deliver to them.”
He added that patients seemed very happy to have him back.
“We had a number of patients who have left and then came back to me this year after hearing I was in town," he said. "I often hear them saying ‘I was so unhappy when you left,’ and ‘I’m happy you’re back because I didn’t particularly care for the doctor I was seeing.’ They feel more comfortable seeing a familiar face.”
By expanding his practice to Andover, Dr. Maugeri aims to help even more patients in an underserved area.
"Right now, I’m the only OB/GYN at the clinic," Dr. Maugeri explained. "I see all the patients myself so they don’t have to rotate through other doctors. This also allows for better communication between me, the staff, the hospitals, and the patients.”
