Vacuworx Introduces New Octapad Slab System and Hydraulic Barrier Lifter At World of Concrete
(PRWEB) February 03, 2015 -- Vacuworx, the pioneer of vacuum lifting technology in North America, introduced two new products today at World of Concrete in Las Vegas that provide faster, safer, smarter concrete slab lifting and highway barrier placement.
Vacuworx Lifting Systems have been used successfully for a variety of commercial applications, including manufacturing processes, oil/gas drilling, and pipeline and highway construction. While the Vacuworx RC Series of Lifters have been widely used in vacuum material handling and construction using a single vacuum pad attached to a lifter, there was a need in highway and bridge construction to lift deteriorated concrete slabs from roadways and bridges. As a result, Vacuworx designed and manufactured an eight-pad attachment to its existing line of RC Series Vacuum Lifters appropriately named the Octapad System.
Each pad has its own vacuum valve, allowing a pad to be shut off when it’s directly on top of a pothole or a crack. This creates more vacuum to other opened pads for concrete slab lifting] from a road or bridge and to placement in a truck for removal without re-handling by workers. Octapad can lift reinforced slabs up to 6’ wide x 12’ long x 12” thick and weighing up to 16,588 lbs.
The second product introduced at World of Concrete is the Hydraulic Barrier Lifter that Vacuworx specially designed to improve safety and bolster productivity for construction contractors, governmental authorities, security agencies and military personnel tasked with installing, moving and lifting concrete road barriers.
The Vacuworx Hydraulic Barrier Lifter attaches to excavators and/or backhoes and has a quick coupler and quick hydraulic fittings kit for easy installation on the host vehicle. It can lift 8’, 10’, 12’, and 16’ concrete barriers and was designed with rotational capability for precise maneuvering in confined spaces during road, bridge and highway construction. The Hydraulic Barrier Lifter weighs 950 lbs.; has 9,000 lbs. lift capacity; and features elastomer grips to provide contact with a barrier without marking or damaging the barrier.
These new products were the direct result of listening to customers and fulfilling the Vacuworx charter of developing faster, safer, smarter solutions.
