Wines of South Africa Featured as Guest Region for 2015 Virginia Wine Expo
New York, NY (PRWEB) February 04, 2015 -- Wines of South Africa (WOSA), a not-for-profit industry organization that promotes the exports of all South African wine, has been selected as the guest region for the 8th annual Virginia Wine Expo (VWE) this winter. The VWE is the nation’s premier single-region wine and food event and will be held February 17-22, 2015 in Richmond. Attendees will have an opportunity to enjoy events, including dinners, comparative tastings, seminars, brunch, an artisan burger, wine and craft beer party, and the Walk-Around Grand Tastings. In all, there will be 25 events over 6 days and over 10,000 guests are expected to attend.
South African wine will be integrated into many of the events on the schedule, including the Walk-Around Grand Tastings, Best of Virginia & South Africa Premier Tasting (sponsored by WOSA), seminars and dinners, and more. WOSA is thrilled to be taking part in this iconic event, following in the footsteps of previous guest regions such as Bordeaux. WOSA US Marketing Manager Jim Clarke speaks to South Africa’s involvement in this year’s event: “The VWE is an ideal opportunity to introduce a receptive and eager audience to the diversity, range and value of South African wine today. We are also excited to taste some great Virginia wine!”
As the guest region, WOSA will sponsor the Best of Virginia & South Africa Premier Tasting, a unique, premium comparative tasting of great Virginia and South African wines poured by knowledgeable representatives who can talk about the nuances and tasting notes of the wines being sampled. The bottles being tasted will average $30+ at retail prices. Chef Hugo Uys, an entrepreneur and gourmet chef from South Africa, will prepare authentic South African cuisine to enhance the tasting experience. Tickets to all events in the 2015 Virginia Wine Expo can be purchased at http://www.VirginiaWineExpo.com.
