Augustine named to WELCOA’s Top 100 Health Promotion Professionals
Grinnell, Iowa (PRWEB) February 03, 2015 -- Health and Safety Manager Julie Augustine was named one of the Top 100 Health Promotion Professionals by the Wellness Council of America (WELCOA) for promoting wellness at Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company.
“I’m honored for WELCOA’s recognition, but it takes a lot of people to run a good wellness program. We have a wonderful group of staff and employees at Grinnell Mutual who work daily to create a culture of health at the workplace. We also have great leadership who support our wellness initiatives,” said Augustine.
WELCOA’s Top 100 were selected based on peer voting and a judging panel who reviewed the applications. To qualify, the health professionals must coordinate ongoing health programs, implement innovative health solutions, have a vision for the future of the health industry, and serve as business and community leaders. WELCOA is the largest national organization for health professionals and sets the standard for workplace wellness programming.

As a member of the Top 100, Augustine will be featured in the “Well Informed” magazine and on the welcoa.org website. WELCOA’s Top 10 list will be announced in February and the Top Health Promotion Professional will be announced later this spring.
Grinnell Mutual kicks off Live Healthy Iowa
One of the largest wellness initiatives at Grinnell Mutual is Live Healthy Iowa. In the past six years, employees have lost a combined total of 7,894 pounds and logged a total of 93,670 hours and 23 minutes of activity. In 2013, the company won the Corporate Cup Challenge for mid-sized employers and placed second in 2014.
The 2015 Live Healthy Iowa wellness challenge started on January 26. Grinnell Mutual kicked off its participation with a motivational speech to employees from Chuck Long, executive director of the Iowa Sports Foundation and former quarterback at the University of Iowa. More than 380 Grinnell Mutual employees will participate in the 10-week program this year.
