New Hometown Tourist Website Brings The World into Your Backyard
(PRWEB) February 03, 2015 -- Hometown Tourist, a website that provides travel tips for visitors from people that live in the visiting city, re-launched with a new look, new bloggers, and new destinations. The site originally launched in 2013.
Hometown Tourist is unlike any current travel website that is based on reviews and stars. The site is about recommendations from locals who share their favorite restaurant, great place for an early morning stroll, or the tourist spots that are really worth visiting.
Hometown Tourist is the brainchild of Terri Lundberg, an American who currently resides in Saudi Arabia. An avid traveler to over 25 countries and 100 cities, Lundberg would share travel experiences on her own blog. “I would always ask people when I traveled if they knew anyone in a city I was visiting, so that I could get local tips,” she said. “When I’d arrive in a city, the first thing I would do is ask someone from that area which restaurant has the best food or great place to visit,” Lundberg added. The idea for Hometown Tourist was born.
Hometown Tourist started from Lundberg’s love of travel and yearning to learn more about each destination. As she traveled, Lundberg realized that while she received information about what to do and where to go, it wasn’t always the most accurate. “It was never easy to get good, local recommendations from travel websites,” Lundberg said. “Who better to share travel tips than the people who live there?”
Hometown Tourist currently has recommendations from 30 destinations, like Toronto, Ontario, Canada; Bangkok; Berlin; London; Hermanus, South Africa and major U.S. locations, with more to come throughout 2015.
Travelers can browse the Hometown Tourist website and get recommendations from longtime locals and residents who know where to get the best food, listen to the hottest local bands, and where to spend a quiet evening. “We want readers to feel like they are getting honest, accurate information,” Lundberg added.
The website is mobile-responsive, a key factor for those who are on the go. Hometown Tourist can be found on social networks Facebook (facebook.com/HometownTourists) and Twitter (@HTTourist). Followers of both sites can share their own experiences and information.
