Sowell Management Services, a fee-based third-party investment management firm, has named Chuck Hicks its new Chief Operating Officer. Hicks, who was previously the firm’s Senior Vice President of Business Development, has been with the firm for over 10 years and in 2014 led the company to its most successful year ever.

In his new role, Hicks will be responsible for overseeing the company’s day-to-day operations, including revenue and sales growth; expense, cost and margin control; and monthly, quarterly and annual financial goal management. He will also direct the firm’s acquisition and growth activities, as well as oversee short- and long-term planning to support strategic business goals.

“I had been looking for a COO for more than a year. While I worked with several head hunters and reviewed a lot of capable candidates, I never found exactly what I was looking for,” said firm President and CEO Bill Sowell. “Then it dawned on me that what I had been looking for was right in front of me. Chuck’s dedication, organization and leadership skills will help us continue on our phenomenal growth phase.”

Hicks began his professional career with a Fortune 200 manufacturing company. He spent 10 years with the organization and upon his departure had been elevated to Vice President and General Manager of one of the company’s most profitable divisions. Over the next 13 years Hicks continued his senior management career in manufacturing before joining Sowell Management Services. He has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Henderson State University with a dual major in management and marketing.
