New York, NY (PRWEB) February 05, 2015 -- To raise awareness and increase enjoyment of Pisco, Peru's native spirit, some of New York's best restaurants and coolest bars have joined with Peruvian Pisco producers and the Trade Commission of Peru in New York to launch the city's second annual Pisco Sour Happy Hour Week.
Because just one day of celebration isn't enough time for everyone to fully enjoy Peru's classic cocktail the event begins on February 7th (which is National Pisco Sour Day --it falls every year on the first Saturday of February) and continues on throughout the week as these bars and restaurants offer Pisco Sour Happy Hour specials ranging from $5-$10, along with live music and other surprises.
In addition some restaurants and bars will take this opportunity to educate their clients a little more about Pisco, the eight grape varietals that can be used for Pisco and the production process which produces a very high quality Peruvian spirit. Ultimately every one of the 30+ restaurants and bars in New York City which carry Pisco year round has defined their own way of celebrating National Pisco Sour Day just as they have done in Peru for years, and now in some cities like London where Peruvian cuisine is also booming.
Expect delicious takes on this cornerstone cocktail that hails from Peru as crafted with these fine brands: Barsol, Encanto, Diablada and Macchu Pisco, Pisco 100, Porton and Caravedo, Santiago Queirolo, Soldeica, Tacama and Pisco Vargas.
Conrado Falco, Director of the Trade Commission of Peru in New York notes, "This is a week- long celebration with an attractive special price that will allow more people to taste and understand Pisco."
The restaurants participating in this celebrations are, among others, Chiflez, Chimu, Coco Roco, Inti, Jora, Kion, Manka, Panca, Pio Pio, Raymi, and Warique. And other non-Peruvian like Old Homestead, Pampano, Pera and Sushi Samba.
A sampling of the participating bars are: Amaru Pisco Bar, The Bar Room NYC, Middle Branch, Barca Bar and Seamstress.
