ACHC Forms Partnership with PCCA
Cary, NC (PRWEB) February 05, 2015 -- Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) today announced a newly-formed partnership with Professional Compounding Centers of America (PCCA). The non-exclusive partnership between the two organizations provides PCCA members with access to special pricing options and educational resources for Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board (PCAB) accreditation, a service of ACHC.
The partnership comes at a time when PCCA is developing a preferred pharmacy network (PPN), PersonalMed™, that will offer a range of benefits for compounding pharmacies, payors, and patients. With a planned release date during the first quarter of 2015, PCCA has received an initial interest from more than 600 compounding pharmacies that wish to participate in the network. The network will consist of PCCA member pharmacies that choose to meet additional PCAB accreditation requirements in order to demonstrate the highest level of performance and compliance within the industry, including USP 795 and 797.
“ACHC is proud to partner with PCCA in an effort to ensure the compounding of safe, quality medications across the industry,” said José Domingos, ACHC CEO. “I applaud PCCA for its forward thinking in the development of a preferred pharmacy network for compounding pharmacies. This is a step in the right direction for the entire industry that will serve to establish safer compounded products in the marketplace.”
With broad and extensive experience in the area of pharmacy compliance, including accreditation programs for non-sterile and sterile compounding, infusion, specialty, and long term care pharmacy services, ACHC is positioned to be the solution of choice for all organizations. Beginning July 2014, ACHC began administering PCAB accreditation programs for non-sterile (ref. USP 795) and sterile (ref. USP 797) compounding services. PCAB accreditation assesses the compounding process based on a specific set of standards that concentrate on the quality and consistency of compounded medications.
“PersonalMed will offer quality care to patients, using a network of highly credentialed, PCAB-accredited compounding providers who are dedicated to excellence in clinical service and are committed to patients’ clinical outcomes,” said Bill Letendre, MS, RPh, MBA, Vice President of Compounding Pharmacy Management (CPM) Services for PCCA. “The partnership with ACHC strengthens PCCA’s PPN and guarantees a high level of quality and compliance among member pharmacies.”
As a leading accreditation organization, ACHC is committed to providing educational resources that facilitate continuous compliance. The organization offers a range of resources designed to help pharmacies achieve and maintain compliance including workbooks, workshops, and compliance checklists. ACHC also plans to release additional educational opportunities in early 2015 for compounding pharmacies that are preparing for the accreditation process.
ACHC is a non-profit accreditation organization that has stood as a symbol of quality and excellence since 1986. The organization has CMS Deeming Authority for Home Health, Hospice, and DMEPOS and a Quality Management System that is certified to ISO 9001:2008. ACHC is the provider’s choice for accreditation because of its personal Accreditation Advisors, relevant and realistic standards, competitive pricing, and a friendly, consultative approach to accreditation. Accreditation by ACHC reflects an organization’s dedication and commitment to meeting standards that facilitate a higher level of performance and patient care.
