LEID Products BACS System Delivers Critical Value to Government Research Facility Enforcing Secure and Efficient Asset Management
Auburn Hills, MI (PRWEB) February 05, 2015 -- LEID Products, LLC., the leader of electronic locker and cabinet storage with biometric asset protection and control, today announced details of a project it completed at an undisclosed high-profile government research facility. The facility is protected by an internal police department employing 100 sworn officers. The command staff was in the process of redesigning the facility’s armory space and realized the need to address significant issues related to its manual process for managing weapons. The command staff brought LEID Products in to remediate the issues and assist with designing the space so it would function as an efficient, safe and secure area.
Poor design of its armory space coupled with the inefficiency of manually logging items in and out were the two main factors driving the command staff’s decision for a complete overhaul of its armory process and weapon storage. After the agency’s thorough research of available options, LEID Products was contracted to complete the project.
LEID Products team worked diligently alongside the command staff’s team to install the BACS Asset Management System, which provides inventory of all firearms. Authorized users are able to access the self-service BACS ID Station Kiosk through biometric identification. Anyone with approved access can individually sign out and return weapons identified via RFID chip. The system provides government auditors with a much more accurate electronic recap of inventory than ever before. Moreover, inventory can be accessed in real time by request. The facility stores its weapons in LEID’s electronic SmartRail Gun Racks and other assets in LEID’s electronic lockers - Electronic Modular Access Units.
“We originally installed this system several years ago, and with its proven success, we have since expanded the system adding additional SmartRail Gun Racks and upgrading the BACS ID Station Kiosk. The purpose of this case study is to educate other government agencies about LEID’s field proven solution,” said Sam Hoff, president, LEID Products. “While the identity of this agency is undisclosed due to security concerns, this agency will allow other pre-qualified agencies to visit the facility for a tour and demonstration.”
The BACS System has saved many hours for the government facility’s officers and government auditors alike. Administrators have 24/7 monitoring and control through remote, web-based asset management software. In addition, required maintenance is tracked – an unexpected bonus of the BACS System. The case study is available on LEID products website.
