Today’s senior demands a better lifestyle choice that isn’t necessarily about slowing down. Our community was designed to encourage an active lifestyle for the residents as well as provide a welcoming environment for our residents’ families and friends.

At its annual Best of 50+ Housing Awards, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) 50+ Housing Council presented the Gold Award to Vivante on the Coast in the Assisted Living/Special Needs community category. The NAHB 50+ Housing Council is the voice of the 50+ seniors housing industry and a leading source of information and research on the active adult, independent living, service-enriched, and assisted-living markets. Their annual Best of 50+ Housing Awards, honors excellence and innovation in the design, development, lifestyle and marketing of housing that appeal to the mature market. Vivante, located in Costa Mesa, Calif., was recognized both for its forward-thinking design and resident-focused programming. The retirement community was conceived by Santa Ana-based developer Nexus Development Corporation as an independent and active luxury retirement community that effectively integrates many of the new ideas in fitness, healthcare, technology, and lifestyle that appeal to today’s seniors.

“Since our opening in October 2013, we’ve witnessed the positive difference made in the lives of our residents and their families. Vivante was designed to make the transition to assisted living a great experience for everyone involved. To make that happen we’ve focused on the three most important elements: the residents, their families, and our staff,” said Cory Alder, President, Nexus Development. “We are honored to receive this recognition from the 50+ Housing Council because it shows that what we’ve accomplished with Vivante is important to the future of the senior living industry and to further improving how we care for our growing aging community.” According to the US Census Bureau, Americans age 65 or older will almost double by 2050.

Some of the programming elements that have been significant to the success of Vivante include technology integration through a Vivante mobile app and use of an IPad for each resident to better communicate with their family and the staff. Daily IPad training classes are held to improve each resident’s use.

Wellness and fitness are also important to the Vivante lifestyle. In addition to a saltwater pool, bocce court, putting green and surrounding walking trails, residents have many daily fitness choices in activities such as water aerobics and Zumba.

“Quality food and dining experiences remain a top priority. We have an on-site edible garden and chef who works with the community to cater to dietary needs and tastes,” Alder added. “Today’s senior demands a better lifestyle choice that isn’t necessarily about slowing down. Our community was designed to encourage an active lifestyle for the residents as well as provide a welcoming environment for our residents’ families and friends.”

Vivante includes 145 total assisted living residences with a variety floor plans ranging in size from 450 to 1,800 square feet. Most residences come complete with full kitchens, walk-in closets, spacious bathrooms, glass and metal enclosed outdoor patios, and individual washer/dryer. The Vivante suites feature stainless steel appliances, solid wood cabinetry, CaesarStone counter tops, Grohe fixtures, and Porcelanosa tile. Another important part of the community is The Shores at Vivante on the Coast, a secure memory care facility located within the property, featuring 40 suites. The Shores provides specialized care for residents with cognitive impairment.

Situated on a private, gated, seven-acre lot, Vivante is its own campus, with abundant outdoor space in a secure environment. Outdoor features include a rooftop deck with ocean views, Palm Courtyard, a dog park, a 2.5 acre wildflower walking park, bocce court, a putting green, and outdoor dining options. Indoor amenities include multiple dining venues, a full bar with live entertainment, a game room, a salon, theater, art studio, indoor saltwater pool and fitness center.
