Catapult Learning’s New CoreConnects Deepens Engagement and Rigor in ELA and Math Instruction
Camden, New Jersey (PRWEB) February 06, 2015 -- Catapult Learning today announced the launch of CoreConnects, the newest professional development program within the company’s Common Core Adoption Program Suite. Providing a blend of workshops, in-classroom support, and 24/7 access to teacher resource portal, CoreConnects can help K-12 teachers build and reinforce their content knowledge in English Language Arts (ELA) and math and teach for deeper understanding of key concepts and knowledge transfer in these subjects.
“New college- and career-readiness standards demand a deeper understanding of how learning progresses from grade to grade, not just from month to month, and how important concepts grow and develop across the years,” explains Dr. Andrew Ordover, Vice President of Product and Curriculum at Catapult Learning. “We are all being called upon to deepen our understanding—students and teachers alike—and we are all being called upon to engage with academics in richer, more challenging, and often more ambiguous ways.”
Developed to help to build system-wide capacity in districts with limited resources to support Common Core adoption, CoreConnects offers a blended “360-degree” approach to professional development. The in-person workshops and job-embedded coaching, on-demand videos, and grade-specific instructional resources “all help teachers think in new ways about their content areas, their instructions, and the ways in which they engage students,” says Ordover.
CoreConnects is the third program in Catapult Learning’s Common Core Adoption Program Suite. In 2012, Catapult Learning launched these programs to support school districts with their Common Core adoption plans across a wide continuum. Each of the three programs—CoreConnects, Discover The Core, and Disciplinary Literacy—begins with a needs assessment and includes a mix of in-person coaching and seminars, unlimited access to an online teacher resource portal containing on-demand videos, as well as printed curricular resources that are both grade-band and content-specific.
