Drs. James R. McAraw, Matthew S. Cantner and Craig K. Foisie Accept New Patients for Laser Gum Surgery this New Year, for Old Saybrook, CT Residents with Gum Disease
Old Saybrook, CT (PRWEB) February 06, 2015 -- Drs. James R. McAraw, Matthew S. Cantner and Craig K. Foisie are pleased to accept new patients this New Year without a referral for the LANAP® protocol. This advanced laser gum surgery is a patient-friendly and highly-regarded treatment option that treats gum disease without causing excessive bleeding or other complications, commonly associated with traditional gum disease treatments.
Gum disease can be a serious condition if not treated properly, and can cause complications if it is allowed to advance. Recent studies have shown a link between gum disease and many other dangerous physical ailments, including heart disease, various types of cancer and preterm birth. Additionally, untreated periodontal disease is responsible for embarrassing oral symptoms such as chronic bad breath and loose or missing teeth.
Patients often develop gum disease due to insufficient oral hygiene practices, but some individuals may be more prone to the disease because of their genetics. If gum disease is left untreated it can cause significant pain and complications to the patient. Even though periodontal disease is unpleasant, some patients are reluctant to receive treatment because they are not aware that a minimally invasive treatment option exists. Thanks to the LANAP® protocol, patients can now reduce their gum disease symptoms without worrying about postoperative pain, excessive bleeding, swelling or long recovery periods.
During the LANAP® protocol, Drs. McAraw, Cantner and Foisie use a very accurate laser called the PerioLase® MVP – 7™ to remove inflamed gum tissue by targeting it with pulses of concentrated laser light. Patients do not need to worry about losing healthy gum tissue, because the laser is designed to only remove infected bacteria. The laser is also designed to seal off the treated area once the infection is removed, and thus eliminate the need for stitches. The procedure typically requires a very short recovery time and most patients are able to resume normal activities within hours of treatment.
Patients with gum disease in Old Saybrook, Waterford, and Madison, Ct are invited to find out if they are qualified to receive laser gum surgery. A LANAP® protocol appointment may be scheduled by calling the doctors’ offices or by visiting their website.
