Colorado State University-Global Campus Celebrates Founders Day
Greenwood Village, Colo. (PRWEB) February 10, 2015 -- Colorado State University-Global Campus (CSUGlobal.edu) is taking part in Founders Day at the Colorado State Capitol on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 to honor the 145th anniversary of the creation of Colorado State University.
Formerly State Agricultural College, CSU in Fort Collins was founded on February 11, 1870 as the state’s land grant university. It became a system of schools in 2002 with the addition of CSU-Pueblo. CSU-Global was created in 2007 by the CSU System Board of Governors as the nation’s first statutorily defined, 100 percent online, state university. Today, all three universities are independently regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, and each serves its distinct mission and student populations as part of the larger state university system.
“We are proud to be part of the renowned CSU System with roots that date back to before Colorado was a state,” says Colorado State University-Global Campus President, Dr. Becky Takeda-Tinker. “Through our focus on access and affordability for nontraditional adult learners, we are proud to help further that legacy of the System,” continued Dr. Takeda-Tinker. “Education always has and always will be extremely important to advancing communities across the world.”
CSU-Global Campus is committed to its mission of advancing student success in a global society, investing in human capital, expanding the state economy, and enhancing the life for citizens in the state of Colorado and beyond by providing access to dynamic degree programs characterized by academic excellence, innovative delivery technologies, and strong stakeholder engagement.
The Founders Day celebration will begin at 8 a.m. with a legislative reception attended by Dr. Takeda-Tinker along with CSU System Chancellor Michael Martin, CSU President Dr. Tony Frank, CSU-Pueblo President Lesley Di Mare, and the CSU System Board of Governors. Several lawmakers will be in attendance as well to present a proclamation in honor of CSU Founders Day, which will be read on both the House and Senate floors.
