“Liquidware Labs ProfileUnity has enhanced the user experience tremendously. We’ve found adoption rates for BPS Desktop increasing …” Bill Russo, Dir. of Instructional Technology, BPS
Chcago, IL (PRWEB) February 10, 2015
Liquidware Labs today announced that Buffalo Public Schools (BPS) district of New York State is utilizing its ProfileUnity solution in its strategic desktop virtualization deployment. BPS is one of the largest urban school districts in New York State. The district serves approximately 35,000 students and 3,500 faculty members with a myriad of instructional uses cases and supporting software. Buffalo Public schools administration recognized that it was critical to provide all of their students with a consistent desktop workspace experience and commenced an ambitious desktop virtualization deployment to accomplish this and other organizational goals.
“Liquidware Labs ProfileUnity has enhanced the user experience tremendously. We’ve found adoption rates for BPS Desktop increasing … and increasing, because users know it's just as good as, if not better than, if they were on a traditional desktop computer. We have 55 instructional locations, and our plan is to have BPS Desktop installed in every computer lab, on every desktop in all of our educational campuses and our administrative offices to serve as many as 12,000 concurrent users at any given time,” said Bill Russo, Director of Instructional Technology, BPS.
By implementing desktop virtualization and ProfileUnity, BPS has been able to respond to key trends that were having an impact on delivering quality education programs. BPS wanted to:
- Respond to BYOD and Staff and Student Mobility Needs
- Extend the Life of Aging IT Assets
- Provide a Consistent Platform for District-Wide PARCC Student Testing
- Enable “At-Home” Learning
- Centralize Desktop Management and Security
All of BPS goals relied on their delivering a consistent, high performing user experience to students both in the classroom and at home. They achieved these goals by using Liquidware Labs ProfileUnity, which makes user profiles – and all user personalization – portable to any endpoint device regardless of location. ProfileUnity is designed to enable desktop mobility for “anytime, anywhere, any device” desktops. Desktop users have a consistent user experience with all of their personalization and customizations, just as they would have on physical desktops. In addition, ProfileUnity delivers robust User Environment Management features that support simplified management and policy as well as improved security of desktops.
“We worked extensively with Buffalo Public Schools to understand their requirements, and it quickly became apparent that ProfileUnity would be the ideal solution for their needs in serving a large geographic population of K-12 students,” commented Chris Akerberg, president of Liquidware Labs. “We are proud to report that ProfileUnity has affordably enabled BPS to deliver on their key goals and ensured the success of their desktop virtualization initiative.”
