I wanted to delve into what causes the women in my family to be extremely successful in their careers, but their personal lives are riddled with insecurity and self-doubt.
LAKE OZARK, Mo (PRWEB) February 12, 2015
Love may not conquer all, as the old saying suggests.
Author Victoria Thomas’ new book, “Quicksand: A Family Foundation,” encompasses a romantic saga following a chance encounter between a lonely French girl and a decorated officer of the Royal British Navy. Set in the early 1800s and spanning multiple generations across France, England, Wales and America, their love story is plagued by powerful circumstances.
“Character flaws can be passed down from generation to generation like mirror images,” Thomas said. “’Quicksand’ is as much an oxymoron in the real life of my family.”
“Quicksand: A Family Foundation” is the first of a trilogy the author is writing to explore her ancestry and understand character flaws in her own family unit. Thomas immigrated to the United States from Wales and became an American citizen in 1977. She began writing this trilogy, beginning with the tale of her great grandparents, in hopes of giving her children and grandchildren a legacy.
“I wanted to delve into what causes the women in my family to be extremely successful in their careers, but their personal lives are riddled with insecurity and self-doubt,” Thomas said. “I have been searching for the ‘why.’”
