CALNOC, the nation’s first nursing quality indicators database today announced the CALNOC Board of Directors has elected Alice Naqvi Mugler as their new Chairperson. Alice is an early member of the CALNOC organization and has been actively involved for the past eighteen years. She has served on the CALNOC board during the past five years.

Alice Naqvi Mugler, MS, RN is the Director for Nursing Practice at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC). Previously, Ms. Naqvi Mugler was the Magnet Project Coordinator at SCVMC. Prior to that, Ms. Naqvi Mugler worked for 35 years at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS). She began as a nurse manager and became successively, a nurse educator, psychiatric supervisor, Assistant Chief of Nursing, and, for the last 17 years of her career, the Chief of Nursing Services.
As an early member of CALNOC, and under her leadership, VAPAHCS became one of the eleven pilot sites in the original CALNOC database. Ms. Naqvi Mugler co-founded the national VA wide Nursing Outcomes Database (VANOD). She has published nationally about rehabilitation nursing, nursing practice and nurse sensitive outcomes. Ms. Naqvi Mugler received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Boston University and Master of Science in Psychiatric Nursing with a minor in Administration from the University of Hawaii. In addition to serving on the CALNOC board, she is a Youth Explorer Advisor for Medical Explorer Post 751.
