Winters pens an inspirational work of fiction that will strengthen its reader’s faith

My Refuge and Strength

This book is about common people (no super heroes) discovering that if we trust God, He is there through the good and the bad.

The new book by Joyce Winters, My Refuge and Strength, ($16.49, paperback, 9781498421348; $8.99, e-book, 9781498421355) exemplifies that if an individual knows the Lord personally, he or she can count on Him to be there and strengthen them through whatever trial comes to pass. Though fictional, her story is based on very tragic and real experiences; it surrounds a young widow named Kathy, who is still haunted by the accident that injured her and took the lives of her husband and unborn child. Her faith is being tested as she tries to lean completely on the Lord for His comfort and strength.

“This book is about common people (no super heroes) discovering that if we trust God, He is there through the good and the bad,” states the author. “The heroine faces tragedy, but her faith is strong; she disappears while in a foreign country doing God's work, and when she feels panicky, God assures her of His presence. He does eventually send her someone to love and with whom to spend her life.”

Joyce Winters found Christ as her Savior as a young girl, and has spent her life in service to Him. She has found Him sufficient through each experience in her life, i.e.: the death of her husband, the loss of two children through miscarriage, counseling of youth and women in or newly out of jail, and helping people to find the Lord. The author has been writing stories and poems since childhood, many of which she still has. She has had more than 100 articles, short stories and poems published in The Salvation Army War Cry, Christian Readers’ Digest and Encore Magazine in addition to her book, Let Your Light So Shine, published by Xulon Press. Joyce is now retired and living in Northern Illinois.
