Whataburger Celebrates 30th Anniversary of Popular Fancy Ketchup Cups with #FancySKETCHUP Custom Ketchup Art for Fans
San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) February 12, 2015 -- In honor of Whataburger’s 30th anniversary of its popular Fancy Ketchup cups, Whataburger is hosting a #FancySKETCHUP event on Twitter, where Whataburger fans can have their self-portrait drawn using none other than Whataburger’s Fancy Ketchup. For a chance to participate, fans must tweet @Whataburger using the hashtag #FancySKETCHUP tomorrow.
Whataburger’s ketchup has always been a fan favorite, but it wasn’t until 1985 when the company created the easy-to-dip, one-ounce containers that customers became even bigger fans of the convenience that came with the condiment. Whataburger’s Fancy Ketchup admirers even have a dedicated Facebook fan page with more than 20,000 fans, where fans have described the condiment as “life-changing,” “best on the planet” and “ketchup of the gods.”
A handpicked artist from Austin, Texas will draw several self-portraits of Whataburger’s fans tomorrow using Whataburger’s Fancy Ketchup as the medium. The drawings will be shared socially with the participating customers and Whataburger’s more than 2 million social media fans.
Here’s how it works:
1. Fans tweet @Whataburger using hashtag #FancySKETCHUP tomorrow, February 13.
2. Several lucky social media fans will be selected to participate.
3. Portraits begin. @Whataburger will be live-tweeting the process and sharing the unique condiment creations throughout the day.
“Our fans’ love for Whataburger Fancy Ketchup is pretty amazing, so we wanted to do something really fun to celebrate the 30th anniversary of our ketchup cups,” said Whataburger Vice President of Communications Pam Cox. “We’re excited for the opportunity to bring our loyal fans together to celebrate this milestone, and we look forward to turning one of our most popular products into a unique, artistic social media experience.”
Whataburger launched into retail sales in Spring 2013 by bottling its popular line of condiments — Fancy Ketchup, Spicy Ketchup and Original Mustard — and making them available at H-E-B stores in Texas. Since then, new products have been added to shelves including Whataburger’s own Premium Pork Sausage, Honey Butter, Original Mayo, Whataburger’s line of Signature Sauces: Creamy Pepper, Peppercorn Ranch, Jalapeño Ranch and Honey Mustard, as well as its Honey BBQ Sauce and Bold BBQ Sauce.

ABOUT WHATABURGER:
Whataburger has focused on its fresh, made-to-order burgers and friendly customer service since 1950 when Harmon Dobson opened the first Whataburger as a small roadside burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas. Dobson gave his restaurant a name he hoped to hear customers say every time they took a bite of his made-to-order burgers: “What a burger!” Within the first week, people lined up around the block for his 25 cent, 100 percent beef burgers served on five-inch buns. Today, the company is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, with more than 770 locations in 10 states with sales of more than $1 billion annually.
