Nationally-Recognized Cleveland Clinic Foot and Ankle Surgeon, James J. Sferra, MD, to Lead Allegheny Health Network Program
Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) February 13, 2015 -- James J. Sferra, MD, a nationally recognized orthopaedic surgeon, has been named Director of the Division of Foot and Ankle Surgery for Allegheny Health Network (AHN). Dr. Sferra joins AHN from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation where he served as Director of the Center of Foot and Ankle Surgery within the Orthopaedic and Rheumatologic Institute. He was a staff physician at the Cleveland Clinic for more than 20 years.
Dr. Sferra specializes in reconstructive surgery, fractures and sports injuries of the foot and ankle. He has special interests in multiple aspects of foot and ankle disease, and has performed research on bone regeneration, posterior tibial tendon insufficiency (adult-onset flatfoot) and the impact of aging and systemic conditions such as diabetes and obesity on bone in the human foot.

Dr. Sferra earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio and completed a surgical internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He completed a Foot and Ankle Fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He’s board certified in orthopaedic surgery.
He was recognized multiple times as one of The Best Doctors in America by Cleveland Magazine and Northern Ohio Magazine.
