ETA® International Introduces Its Newest Technical Certifications at Education Forum 2015
Greencastle, IN (PRWEB) February 13, 2015 -- Attendees to Education Forum at IWCE can participate in training for ETA International’s newest technical certifications. ETA-approved training providers will give attendees hands-on training and instruction to prepare for the related ETA certification exams.
ETA’s new Fiber to the Antenna (FTTA) certification is for site integrators, contractors and construction companies who install fiber optic cables at wireless and cellular facilities. How to prepare and install pre-terminated fiber cable assemblies on the tower, how to test fiber after installation and how to identify problems during and after installation will be taught at Education Forum. Basic fiber safety and optical transmission theory are also covered. Core concepts such as fiber optic cable types, modes, construction, installation maintenance and testing will also be covered. This certification includes a hands-on component with a focus on the carrier Method of Procedure (MOP).
Thomas Bonner, Ph.D., an ETA-approved training provider, will instruct attendees in the FTTA workshop. Bonner has over 20 separate certifications in fiber optic instruction, teaching courses for AT&T, 3M, OFS, Lucent Technologies and JDSU.
The new Radio Frequency Interference Mitigation (RFIM) certification is for anyone who is involved with interference hunting and mitigation in radio services. The certification exam covers theoretical and practical fundamentals needed to effectively identify and locate radio frequency interference issues in any band or network. Basic RF principles, signal types, propagation and spectrum allocation will also be covered by ETA-approved training providers at Education Forum. Practical applications include interference hunting tools, the use of monitoring receivers, spectrum analyzers and drive test tools. Methods of radio location (direction finding) and signal analysis will be tested using live signal sources with hands-on exercises.
Tom Dover, president of Dover Telecommunication Services and an ETA-approved training provider, will instruct attendees in the RFIM workshop. Dover has spent an entire career managing, maintaining and teaching telecommunications networks. He has delivered training at over 300 sites nationwide and authored over 20 technical and non-technical courses for all faces of the telecommunications and wireless industries.
ETA’s new General Communications Technician- Level 2 (GCT2) certification program enhances the skills of those already in the industry and delves into the details found every day in the telecommunications industries. The class at Education Forum will be geared toward the more advanced level of industry experience with advanced hands-on training. Expanding on the US Department of Homeland Security COMT program, GCT2 covers everything needed to complete the ETA certification. These areas include: basic electronics, fundamentals of radio, tools, test equipment, power systems, cabling and installations, environmental systems, antennas, transmission lines, towers, operating principles and details on radios and radio systems, serial data and IP networks, basics of fiber optic lines and systems, telephony, satellite communications, physical plant considerations, site procedures, and safety practices.
Ira Wiesenfeld, Ph.D, CETsr, is a consulting engineer who has been involved in the radio communications business since 1966. He has provided service and training for the broadcast, public safety radio, mobile telephone, radio common carrier, paging, manufacturing, military and education markets. He is an ETA-approved training provider and wrote the GCT study guide.
