Walkio utilizes web based technologies to match local sitters and dog walkers to pet owners.
Nashville, TN (PRWEB) September 29, 2015
Today, pet owners often face a dilemma between caring for their pet and remaining committed to their career goals. Between juggling work commitments and travel plans, finding dependable pet sitters can be a difficult task. According to an APPA Survey, 65% of Americans own a pet, while the number of pets entering shelters is between 6-8 million each year. Walkio https://getwalkio.com hopes to make owning a pet easier and as a result reduce the number of pets in shelters.
The idea of Walkio was born in Nashville, TN. Founder Hunter Reed, meet software engineer Cody Dysert at the Nashville Entrepreneur Center in 2014. At the time both were working on separate start ups. Cody was building an on-demand delivery app while running IT for his family business. After deciding to work together, the two have made it their goal to ease the pains that pet owners face.
Walkio utilizes web-based technologies to match local sitters and dog walkers to pet owners seeking recurring, as needed, and last minute options. Pet owners receive notifications upon arrival, departure, and can get a photo sent to them during the walk. Walkio handles all payments and allows for safe communication through its app. All sitters and walkers undergo a thorough on-boarding process and background checks before their accounts are activated.
Walkio is currently available in Nashville, TN, Asheville, NC and Los Angeles, CA.
