At Ivy League, we’re proud to be a Fee-Only financial planning firm that always provides a Higher Standard of Financial Advice© to each and every one of our clients.

Christopher N. Brown, MBA, CFP® AIF®, President and Founder of Ivy League Financial Advisors LLC, has been named for the fifth time as one of the Top Fee-Only Financial Planners in the Washington, DC metro area by Washingtonian Magazine for 2014.

The magazine chose their Top Money Advisers for the November issue by sending surveys to hundreds of financial professionals in the region, asking, “Whom would you trust with your own money?” They also did their own research, interviewing experts in the field and consulting industry publications. The people they named to the list received the most recommendations from all sources.

“I’m extremely honored to once again be named to this prestigious list of my peers in the Washington, DC area,” said Brown. “At Ivy League, we’re proud to be a Fee-Only financial planning firm that always provides a Higher Standard of Financial Advice© to each and every one of our clients.”

Brown founded Ivy League Financial Advisors in 1999 after an interesting experience buying life insurance a few years prior. As he met with the insurance representative, he got a distinct impression that the agent wasn't listening to his needs. Instead, the agent was only trying to sell him an expensive product that Brown suspected would generate a large commission for the agent.

He knew there must be a better way to give and receive financial advice, and thus Ivy League Financial Advisors was born – a truly Fee-Only Financial Planning and Investment Management firm.

“I founded Ivy League with a goal to provide Fee-Only Financial Planning and Investment Management to the Washington DC Metro community,” Brown said. “By operating as legal fiduciaries for our clients, our advice is always delivered with their best interests in mind. Since our inception over 15 years ago, we’ve never accepted even one dollar from sales commissions or referral fees – and that is something we proudly stand behind.”

Brown is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) licensee as well as an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) designee. He holds a B.A degree in Economics and a B.S. degree in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from Cornell University. He also holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) Degree from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College. Brown is a member of the Financial Planning Association and the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA).

Brown has been named one of the Top Financial Advisors by Washingtonian Magazine in 2002, 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2014 (every year of the survey since Ivy League was founded in 1999). Ivy League was also named as a top Investment Advisory Firm in from 2009-2012 by Financial Advisor Magazine and 2009-2011 by Wealth Manager Magazine.
