Leading U.S. concessionaire Concessions International (CI) announces the opening of Bar Symon in Washington Dulles International Airport. The bistro-style restaurant is located in Concourse D near gate D14. The airport location is a joint venture between CI and Cleveland-based United Concessions Group (UCG) an Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) owned by Hayat Rababy. This will be CI and UCG’s first partnership.
Bar Symon is the brainchild of famed James Beard award winning Iron Chef Michael Symon and was created specifically for airports by combining Chef Symon’s experience operating award winning restaurants and his frustrations with quality food options while traveling. Vice President of UCG, Ben Rababy, met Chef Symon years ago and convinced him to open the first Bar Symon airport location in Pittsburgh International Airport, which remains in operation today.

Bar Symon’s menu features new and traditional American cuisine with an emphasis on comfort food. Guests can choose from a selection of burgers and sandwiches, as well as Greek and Italian entrees inspired by Chef Symon’s heritage. Menu items include a Pulled Pork Breakfast Burrito (Scrambled eggs with pulled pork, cheddar cheese, cilantro leaves, scallions, red hot sauce & rosemary home fries) their flagship Lola Burger (Pat LeFreida proprietary blend patty with a fried egg, pickled onions, thick-cut bacon, cheddar cheese served on a challah bun), and Lola fries sprinkled with Kosher salt and fresh rosemary. Guest will be able to wash all this delicious food down with a house made Bar Symon Bloody Mary or pick from a large assortment of local and regional craft beers.
This will be one of the first restaurant openings for CI in 2015. The concessionaire has recently opened DC Craft Brews in Washington Dulles and Taylor Gourmet Deli in Reagan National and will open a Chef Geoff’s location in Washington Dulles later this winter.
