Combined, Nearly 80% Seeking Either Florida or Carolinas Real Estate, According to New Report

The leading online consumer research and information website for second homes in master-planned communities has been tracking the online real estate shopping habits of New York residents. The brutal, snowy winter thus far in is not the only reason they are considering a move. Warmth and water are also a draw. reports that for the 12 months ending January, 2015, Florida master-planned communities topped the list of information requests (40%) made by online real estate shoppers who live in New York. South Carolina (20%), North Carolina (19%), Delaware (9%) and Georgia (4%) communities rounded out the top five.

“Even when the weather has been milder in New York, thousands of New Yorkers have been online searching for second homes or places to retire,” said Elisabeth Miller-Fox, co-founder of “Looking back, 12-month data suggests warmer climates and coastal communities are on the minds of New Yorkers from Long Island to Upstate, and the fact they are requesting more information than they can get on the Internet suggests they are seriously looking to make a move.”

Communities profiled offer a variety of amenities from golf to boating, tennis and equestrian facilities with property listed from $100,000 to $20 million.
