Color accuracy is essential for product owners looking for consistent branding, and our latest certification goes to show our commitment to providing exact color matching throughout a customer’s experience with us.

Consolidated Label Company, a leading manufacturer of custom labels in the United States, has received a certification from Graphic Measures International (GMI) for color matching accuracy on its flexographic and digital printing presses. The GMI certification helps product owners identify label and package printing companies that adhere to high standards for color reproduction.

As a GMI certified label converter, Consolidated Label continually measures color samples from its presses against the tolerances of a finely calibrated spectrodensitometer and provides random samples throughout press runs to verify that vendor requirements are met. The GMI certification tests on the four basic process colors - cyan, magenta, yellow and key (black) - which are used for full color printing.

By adhering to these tight guidelines, Consolidated Label is able to ensure consistent color quality within a production run and on re-orders of the same item. They also apply these guidelines when a customer has multiple items in a production run and need to have consistent color from item to item.

The five factors that GMI’s certification program evaluates include:

  • Process control and documentation
  • Equipment maintenance
  • Training procedures
  • Operator capability
  • Equipment performance

Whether a label buyer chooses flexographic or digital label printing, the color on their custom labels will meet the certification’s quality requirements. “Color accuracy is essential for product owners looking for consistent branding, and our latest certification goes to show our commitment to providing exact color matching throughout a customer’s experience with us,” said Joel Carmany, president of Consolidated Label.
