Small Business ID Theft and Data Breach Whitepaper to be Released at the 2015 National Small Business Association Small Business Congress

Merchants Information Solutions, Inc. today announced from the 2015 National Small Business Association Small Business Congress the release of a new small business whitepaper titled “Small Business ID Theft and Data Breach”. This in-depth whitepaper outlines how small business executives need to safeguard their employee and customer information along with managing the cost and risk of a data breach event.

“We created this whitepaper to alert and educate small business owners on the heightened risk of data breach events, as studies are now showing 90% of all breaches occur at small businesses. While large data breach events continue to make headlines every day, the untold majority of breaches negatively impact the heart of our country; small to medium sized businesses” said Russ Johnson, President & CEO of Merchants.

In addition to the whitepaper’s release, Mark Pribish, Vice President & ID Theft Practice Leader at Merchants, will educate numerous small business executives on the danger of ignoring the risks of business Identity theft and data breach events, as well as the cyber risks and liability associated with it in a breakout session at this year’s conference Small Business Congress. Mark will also introduce Merchants small business data breach preparedness and response solution, SmartIDentity for Business™.

Specific topics addressed in the white paper and to be covered at the 2015 Small Business Congress include:

  •     Small Business ID Theft in the News
  •     Information Security Is More than Information Technology
  •     Regulatory and Compliance Drivers
  •     Managing the Risk and Cost of Small Business ID Theft and a Data Breach
  •     About SmartIDentity for Business™

“Whether it’s relating to technology and hackers, or an accidental release of sensitive information from an employee or vendor, no small business is safe from cyber-attacks, data breaches and ID Theft. We are glad to have Mark speak to our small business executives about these dangers and how they can prepare and mitigate the risks of a data breach event” said Rick Murray, President of the Arizona Small Business Association
