BT Selects NetNumber TITAN to Support Global Converged Network
Lowell, MA (PRWEB) February 24, 2015 -- NetNumber announced today that British Telecommunications (BT), one of the world’s leading communications services companies, has expanded the deployment of NetNumber TITAN in its converged network to deliver new and enhanced services to customers in the UK and in more than 170 countries worldwide.
The NetNumber TITAN platform provides multi-protocol centralized signaling and routing control (CSRC) services for a converged network. For the past several years, BT has used TITAN as a centralized routing engine, enabling the carrier to provide addressing and routing services over the industry standard protocols of ENUM/DNS and SIP on a common platform and combined with Policy Management/Enforcement. BT now has added Message Signaling Gateway with interworking functionality, enabling the service provider to handle all signaling and routing challenges in their converged network and accelerate delivery of new and enhanced services to customers.
“BT has been working with NetNumber for several years to support our next-generation network,” said Stephen Sherry, head of Signaling, Messaging and Numbering at BT. “TITAN plays a unique role in simplifying the core of our network and reducing the negative impact of signaling traffic. By drastically reducing network complexity, TITAN helps us reduce the time to deliver new services to our customers.”
TITAN is a common, virtualized infrastructure for all signaling control, routing policy enforcement and subscriber database services in the network. It uniquely delivers centralized provisioning and management combined with a powerful distributed, in-memory database replication method that enables all signal processing to happen at the optimal location in an operator’s network. TITAN is transforming how operators deliver new services to their customers while significantly simplifying the network core and reducing operating costs.
“TITAN is transforming how carriers, like BT, architect their core networks for next-generation services,” explained Matt Rosenberg, vice president, NetNumber Global Sales, Solution Design and Product Management. “Today’s highly fragmented approaches to signal addressing and routing cannot effectively handle the network transition from TDM to IP. A centralized signaling and routing control platform that supports many network functions, such as TITAN, best enables a carrier to get to market faster, reduce OPEX investment, and increase customer services. We are pleased to expand our ongoing relationship with BT, enabling next-generation IP functionality and services.”
Today, TITAN is deployed on more than 350 servers on five continents, and supports more than 200 billion transactions per month.
