Together they will support the goal of improving cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent while reducing deaths by 20 percent by the year 2020

FamilyWize Community Service Partnership, dedicated to building strong communities through better health, is proud to join forces with the American Heart Association. As part of a three year commitment, the organizations will raise awareness of cardiovascular disease and the risks associated with it, while improving overall health of people across the country.

FamilyWize and the American Heart Association share common priorities and interests. “We are working together to engage individuals and organizations to build a sustainable culture of health in communities so that all Americans live in environments that support healthy behaviors, timely and quality care and well-being,” said Dan Barnes, CEO of FamilyWize. “To date we have helped 1.1 million people throughout the U.S. save $110 million on prescription medications related to heart disease and we are proud to partner with the American Heart Association to continue promoting the importance of cardiovascular health.”

Through the collaboration, the organizations will capitalize on their unique strengths to reach individuals and communities with information and tools like FamilyWize’s free prescription savings card and the American Heart Association’s: Life’s Simple 7, which identifies seven health factors and lifestyle behaviors to help people to move toward ideal cardiovascular health; My Life Check, a short survey that provides a personal heart health score and information to help participants to improve problem areas, and EmPowered To Serve, a national online strategic initiative that helps community groups come together to share best practices, resources and results as they work to build a culture of health in their communities.

“Heart disease affects one in three adults annually, so it is imperative for the American Heart Association to partner with organizations like FamilyWize, who share a common health vision and goals, in order to meet people where they are, and create a significant health impact within communities,” said Dr. Rani G. Whitfield, family practitioner, iBaton Rouge, La., and American Heart Association national volunteer spokesperson.
