The auto industry has gotten the majority of consumer attention lately as the prices of gas and oil continue to stay at all-time lows, but the shipping industry has benefited quite a bit from the low prices as well -- and Dependable Auto Shippers wants to extend that advantage to its customers by lowering shipping prices in certain regions across the U.S. Beginning on February 5, the company began to lower prices in certain cities and has begun matching their shipping costs with the current cost of diesel.

As Quality Director Jon Kreuger explains, the price of diesel gas for customers was just below $4 per gallon one year ago; today, customers are paying under $3 per gallon. The $0.83 average price drop adds up to a pretty big savings for anyone who is interested in shipping large equipment, such as vehicles. In cities where Dependable Auto Shippers has been able to lower its prices, the average cost per customer has decreased by about $100.

The company does stress that its price decrease is very dependent on regional fuel costs, shipment destinations, and shipment mileage, and therefore, shipments to certain regions and short-distance shipments are less likely to show drastic savings. Additionally, although Dependable Auto Shippers cannot ensure that its prices will continue dropping, the company states that it intends to adjust prices according to fuel costs -- which could mean that customers will see ever lower shipping costs in the near future.

"As long as the price of fuel stays down, there shouldn't be a reason for an increase," Kreuger states. "But it all depends on supply and demand. Right now, we're just thrilled to be able to provide lower rates to consumers, and we're hoping that more people will opt for professional auto transport when relocating instead of undergoing the drive themselves."
