Until the introduction of this tool, there was this amazing new poly strap on the market with no good way to apply it.

B2B Industrial Packaging, one of the fastest growing polyester strapping and strapping tool providers in the U.S., just introduced a game-changing tool to its clients that allows them to take full advantage of the ultra-high-strength polyester strapping that has recently become available on the market.
B2B Industrial Packaging Vice President Pat Yonkus said, “Until the introduction of this tool, there was this amazing new poly strap on the market with no good way to apply it. It was tough to develop a tool that would pull enough tension to make the strap work. The tooling technology and tool costs were the only things holding polyester back from overtaking steel.”
The tool is the 36-volt Li-Ion battery-powered Fromm P331 for polyester strapping up to 1-1/4-inch wide. It has a tension force up to 7,000 N (1,575 lbs.), which is enough to pull the polyester for maximum effectiveness. Polyester needs to be applied with a certain degree of force to create a rubber band effect that holds the load securely. Other features of this tool include:
- A brushless motor
- Tool welds without tension for strap repair
- Adjustable tension force and sealing time
- Cutting-edge Li-Ion battery technology with up to 370 strap cycles per charge
- Quick battery exchange
Since the advent of stronger polyester strapping in the mid 1990s, many companies have been shifting from steel to polyester for reasons that include:
- Worker safety
- Significant reduction of material costs
- Corrosion resistance
- High shock absorption
- Less pressure on packaging edges
- Strap tension that self-adjusts during shifting and/or settling (the rubber band effect)
These benefits of polyester are indisputable; the only advantage that steel has always had over polyester was strength. Product improvements and the new application tool have changed that.
“We are very enthusiastic about demonstrating this new tool for our clients,” Yonkus said. “I would encourage anyone who is interested in learning more about this to reach out to us for information.”
