Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) February 25, 2015
As the first and only dual-language immersion K-4th grade charter school in the state of Georgia, the International Charter School of Atlanta (ICSAtlanta), which features Spanish, French, German, and Mandarin languages, will accept student applications until Friday, February 27, when its admissions window closes.
ICSAtlanta’s mission is to prepare students for a successful future by promoting academic excellence through rigorous instruction, bilingualism, the integration of cultural competency and respect throughout all aspects of the curriculum, which will enable students to make the most of their individual talents. “In a fast-growing globally competitive market, our goal is to offer a bilingual and bicultural educational program for our Georgia students so that they can become more culturally astute in any social or business setting they may encounter in the future,” explains Marisa Kashapov, Chair of the ICSAtlanta Governing Board of Directors. “It is this cultural capital that will equip them with an advantage on professional and personal levels.”
The internationally-focused charter public school will be located in Roswell but is open to all students regardless of district/county. The school’s dual-language immersion approach to education focuses on using the second language as a medium of instruction from an academic and cultural perspective. Kashapov adds, “In order for students to master language literacy, as well as proficiency, in all school subjects, this type of program requires a long-term commitment from the student and parents which must be embraced from the onset. With this in mind, ICSAtlanta will add a grade every year through 12th grade.”
Unlike other district charter schools, ICSAtlanta (located in Roswell between exits 8 and 9 of off GA400) is open to all students regardless of what city or county they live in. Admissions are currently open through February 27th. If the number of student applicants exceeds the number of slots available, the school will hold a lottery on March 10th.
