Cape Cod Hostels Win Big in International Awards Competition
Silver Spring, MD (PRWEB) February 25, 2015 -- Hostelling International (HI) recently announced the 2014 winners of its annual HI5ives competition, which recognizes outstanding hostels in its global network of more than 4,000 hostels in 91 countries. Cape Cod was well-represented in these global awards, with HI Martha's Vineyard taking home 4 awards and HI Hyannis winning 2 awards.
HI Martha's Vineyard was voted the #1 Friendliest Hostel in the World, #2 Green Hostel in the World, #3 Best Hostel in the World, and #4 Most Comfortable Hostel in the World. The only hostel on Martha's Vineyard, HI Martha’s Vineyard is centrally located between the Aquinnah Clay Cliffs, Menemsha Fishing Village, and Oak Bluffs and welcomes more than 2,600 visitors each year.
HI Hyannis received the #4 designation in the Best Hostel in the World category and the #5 designation in the Friendliest Hostel in the World category. The newly renovated hostel is located on Hyannis Harbor, a short walk from the ferry docks and Main Street, and welcomes more than 1,800 visitors each year.
HI Martha's Vineyard and HI Hyannis are part of the HI USA collection of more than 50 hostels in the U.S., which also includes HI Eastham, HI Nantucket, and HI Truro. Helping fulfill HI USA's nonprofit mission to create a more tolerant world, these hostels bring together a global community of travelers who want to get to experience the unique destinations within Cape Cod and the neighboring islands. 2015 celebrates 75 years of hostelling on the Cape.
"These awards are a huge honor and testament to the world class experience provided by HI USA hostels," says HI USA CEO Russ Hedge. "And we couldn't be more pleased to bring a global spotlight to this unique part of our country."
Additionally, HI USA was named #3 Best National Association in HI's worldwide network, and HI San Diego, Point Loma earned the #4 Green Hostel in the World designation.
The HI5ives Hostel Awards recognize hostels in five different categories based on ratings left by HI’s guests on hihostels.com. These included Most Comfortable Hostel, Friendliest Hostel, Green Hostel, Best Hostel, and Best National Association of Hostels in the World – and HI USA earned an award in each category.
