Calvin Theological Seminary and Evergreen Baptist Church of Los Angeles to Sponsor Christians for Biblical Equality’ 2015 Conference
Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) February 27, 2015 -- Christians for Biblical Equality (CBE) has announced that Calvin Theological Seminary and Evergreen Baptist Church of Los Angeles (EBCLA) have joined the lineup of sponsors for “Becoming New: Man and Woman Together in Christ,” the 2015 CBE conference to be held July 24-26 in Los Angeles, CA.
“Calvin Theological Seminary and Evergreen Baptist’s sponsorships are public declarations of their egalitarian views, and reflect building partnerships between CBE and these organizations,” said Florkime Paye, CBE’s conference coordinator. “I am confident that these relationships will continue for years to come.”
Both Calvin Seminary and Evergreen Baptist Church are sponsoring a CBE conference for the first time, and both partnerships will be on display on the conference stage as well.
Anne Zaki, one of this year’s plenary speakers, attended Calvin College and Seminary, and she has done research for the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship. Zaki will speak on “Women’s Ordination as Pastors: A Middle Eastern Perspective.”
Another member of the Calvin community, Austin Channing Brown, will deliver a workshop on the self-care of women and on how ministry leaders can learn to support women in leadership roles. Channing Brown is a resident director and multicultural liaison at Calvin College.
Ken Fong, senior pastor at EBCLA, will deliver a plenary address titled “Living in Redeemed Relationships.” He has been working at EBCLA for more than 30 years and has authored several books. Fong is also the director of the Asian American Initiative at Fuller Theological Seminary.
Featuring Christian scholars, leaders, and activists, “Becoming New” will be held on July 24-26, 2015 at the Hilton Los Angeles Airport Hotel. The conference theme is based on 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
In its effort to advance a biblical foundation for gift-based rather than gender-based ministry and service, CBE sponsors annual conferences, facilitates local chapters, hosts an online bookstore, and publishes two award-winning journals. For more information, visit http://www.cbeinternational.org.
