Modern Healthcare Recognizes QHR Client West Park Hospital Board Chair Melissa Fraser
Brentwood, Tenn. (PRWEB) March 03, 2015 -- Melissa Fraser, Board Chair of QHR client hospital West Park Hospital (WPH) in Cody, WY was named as this year's recipient of Modern Healthcare's Excellence in Governance Award for small provider organizations (hospitals with 100 or fewer beds). Fraser has served as WPH's board chair since 2004.
According to Modern Healthcare, the first project she championed at WPH was to increase the salaries of WPH's nurses and lab workers. "To retain good personnel, you have to pay them what they are worth," Fraser told Modern Healthcare. She pushed for a pay increase, which she said not only helped reduce turnover, but also boosted employee satisfaction and improved quality and safety through the ability to provide consistent care.
Doug McMillan, CEO of West Park Hospital, commented on how Fraser's leadership has been instrumental in WPH's success: "Melissa is always supportive of WPH's quality and service initiatives. Her unwavering dedication has contributed to WPH's significant volume growth, exceptional patient service and continued facility expansion.”

In addition to helping WPH remain the employer of choice in the Cody area, Fraser is focused onimproving access to quality care. “Somewhere over the rainbow we're all equal and have access to healthcare,” she told Modern Healthcare. “That's where we're headed with our hospital and that's where we're continuing to go.”
