Walter Thompson, the world’s best-known marketing communications brand, today announced that a campaign to celebrate its 150th anniversary has made the final shortlist in the Global In-House Team category for the 2015 Global PRWeek Awards. Leveraging the historic occasion, the team developed a 360-degree multichannel, fully integrated, year-long brand campaign that spanned its internal agency, clients and the industry at large.

Amidst leadership changes, as outgoing CEO and Chairman Bob Jeffrey passed the torch to Gustavo Martinez, the campaign aimed to reignite its longstanding pioneering spirit and fortify the agency’s renewed goals for growth.
The campaign’s multi-platform approach aimed to engage employees and evoke action and participation, in addition to sharing the story of J. Walter Thompson’s history and principles. Elements included the launch of an interactive historic timeline, commemorative anniversary branding, an internal idea incubator called The Commodore Challenge, and the Helen Lansdowne Resor Scholarship, among other activations and assets. The campaign culminated in a live 24-hour global celebration across social media on the final day.
