In his absorbing new novel “Hedonism” (published by Xlibris), Donné Raffat tells the interwoven tale of how changes in the lives of individuals have a collective impact beyond the scope of each.

The story takes place in Cowpet Bay, a vacationing haven for the privileged in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. Here the setting is the meeting ground between five people—three men and two women—whose interaction leads to major changes in their lives. A Wall Street banker and his younger mistress , an aspiring academic, a retired professor of literature, a German graduate student of philosophy, and a local waitress all find their lives to be connected in a way that none expected. As their separate stories unfold, the events are viewed sequentially from the standpoint of each, revealing their impact on not only each other but also, ultimately, on the whole bay community.

In the process “Hedonism” takes readers on a multifaceted journey through the viewpoints of people of different backgrounds, lifestyles, and philosophies.
