Combining the best of soccer and golf, the new sport offers fun for all ages at the resort’s scenic River Marsh Golf Club

Golf courses aren’t just for clubs anymore. Guests of http://www.chesapeakebay.hyatt.com/en/hotel/home.html Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina are invited to head over to the http://www.rivermarshgolfclub.com/ River Marsh Golf Club for FootGolf every Monday evening, beginning March 23rd. Appropriate and fun for all ages, FootGolf is the innovative combination of soccer and golf. The principals are similar to golf, but instead of clubs and golf balls, guests use their feet and soccer balls.

“FootGolf is a great sport for all ages and abilities. It offers an opportunity for individuals to become comfortable with golf in a fun, different way,” said Abby Messick, LGPA T&CP Head Golf Professional at River Marsh Golf Club. “We are excited to be one of the first destinations in the region to introduce this sport.”

The rules of FootGolf are similar to traditional golf. Players take turns shooting for the hole. Balls are played where they lie and must be kicked with a single movement. Each hole offers a par and a scorecard.

To accommodate FootGolf, the first four holes of the River Marsh Golf Course are condensed into nine holes with special FootGolf temporary greens installed. Staying true to its Eastern Shore locale, there’s a bushel crab basket acting as the hole, large enough to accommodate a standard sized soccer ball.

In addition to FootGolf, Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay offers several ways to engage aspiring golfers to get out on its championship course, rated one of Golf Week’s Best Courses You Can Play in Maryland. Other fun golf programs include Night Golf, a glow-in-the-dark putting contest, Birdies & Brews, which features craft beer, Driving Range Happy Hour, the four-hole Family Loop Program, and SNAG (Starting New at Golf), a youth program for the youngest golfers.

The FootGolf drop-in weekly league starts Monday, March 23rd at 5:00 PM. A round takes between one and a half to two hours to complete. Open to both guests and local players for $20 / person, the sport is available daily upon request in the late afternoon and early evening. FootGolf is also a great option for charity fundraisers, wedding parties and corporate groups. For more information, please call River Marsh Golf Club at 410 901 6397.
