"Our main goal is to get kids outside and enjoying their surroundings."
Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) March 04, 2015
For the third year in a row, Hicks Landscape Contractors invites all Elementary, Middle and High Schools in Wake, Franklin, Johnston, Nash, Durham, Orange, Chatham and Harnett Counties in North Carolina to participate in this year’s “Come Alive Outside” Earth Day poster contest now through March 13, 2014. Hicks will be awarding $5,500 in prize money to winning schools for an Earth Day outdoor project.
Groups from schools wishing to participate will submit an Earth Day Poster Design and Project Plan. All materials submitted by March 13 at midnight will be posted onto the Hicks Facebook Page, where fans will vote on their favorite designs and a winner will be chosen. Friends, family members, school employees and students alike can all vote for their favorite designs and plans!
"We are excited about hosting the Come Alive Outside Contest for the 3rd year in a row," said owner Tracie Hicks. "Our main goal is to get kids outside and enjoying their surroundings, as well as pitching in to help improve the environment."
This year’s theme will once again be “Come Alive Outside!” All project materials will need to be registered through PLANET at http://www.planetdayofservice.org. PLANET is a national trade association that represents landscape industry professionals, and their annual Day of Service is an Earth Day event that encourages volunteers to better their communities through landscaping.
Hicks Landscape Contractors will award one (1) first place prize of $2,500 to the school that creates the most voted upon design and project plan. Two (2) second place prizes of $1,000 each will be awarded, as well as two (2) $500 third place prizes. Voting will end on April 13, 2015 at midnight, and winners will be chosen on April 14th! Prize money will go toward helping the winning schools complete their proposed Earth Day projects.
Hicks Landscape Contractors invites all interested schools to download a contest form and contest rules from the website at http://www.hickslandscape.com/planet/. Detailed entry instructions are included in the contest form.
