Daniel Horan, 2014 NHRA Heritage Nitro Funny Car Champion, Starts Racing Fund Drive to Benefit Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA)
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 02, 2015 -- Daniel Horan, owner and driver for Horan Racing and winner of the 2014 NHRA Heritage Nitro Funny Car Title, today announced the start of Horan Racing’s Speedy Recovery Fund Drive, a 2015 fundraiser to raise awareness and donations for Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles (CHLA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit for pediatric care. With an initial pledge of $25,000, Horan Racing is focusing their 2015 racing appearance as returning champions to drive donations within the racing community to CHLA, one of US News & World Report’s highest rated hospitals in the nation. CHLA depends on generous donations and support from the community to help the hospital continue their work providing critical care and on-going research for children.
In discussing his decision to head a fund drive for CHLA, Horan said “We had a fantastic racing season last year topped off by winning a trophy in our division. It was time to see how I could use racing to give something back and what better cause than to help support a hospital that does such consistently great work with children and is dependent on donations.” To drive awareness of the Speedy Recovery Fund Drive for CHLA in the racing community, Horan Racing’s signature red, white and blue “Patriot” mustang nitro funny car has been wrapped in a new custom design reminiscent of children’s chalkboard-art and highlighting the CHLA logo.
The 2014 title-winning car will be making its initial racing appearance at Autoclub Famoso Raceway’s March Meet, March 5 – 8, the first race of the 2015 season. The Speedy Recovery mustang will also be on display at the March Meet KickOff Party held at Bakersfield’s Original Roadhouse Grill, 8490 Rosedale Highway beginning at 6:00 pm on Thursday, March 5. The Roadhouse has turned the evening into a fundraiser for CHLA with 20% of all dinner proceeds going to the Speedy Recovery drive. Horan and the Horan Racing team will be on hand to take pictures and meet other racing fans.

Dan Horan and Horan Racing are the winners of the 2014 NHRA Heritage Nitro Funny Car Title champions. #1 qualifiers in four of their five races, final round contenders or winners in each of the events, Horan ran the quarter mile in 5.66 seconds at a searing 258 mph at Auto Club Famoso in Bakersfield and set a new track record in Salt Lake City.
