Katherine Cooksey Is Crowned Miss New York World 2015
New York, NY (PRWEB) March 03, 2015 -- Katherine Cooksey is the Miss New York World winner. She competed against 14 other women and was crowned on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the Manhattan NYC Affinia Hotel in the heart of NYC. Katherine Cooksey will move on to represent New York at the Miss World America Pageant (June 30, 2015 to July 3, 2015) in Washington, DC, where the national winner will represent America at the 65th Annual Miss World, the largest and most prestigious international pageant. 42 years ago, Miss World Organization’s chairwoman, Julia Morley, created a new theme for Miss World, Beauty With A Purpose, making the Miss World crown the symbol for fundraising, inviting the contestants and license holders from each country to help aid projects in their own countries.
Katherine Cooksey describes herself as creative, classy, and compassionate. She graduated Cum Laude from California State University of Bakersfield with a Bachelors of Fine Arts and is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts a Pratt Institute. Katherine’s favorite quote is “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up” by Pablo Picasso. When asked about her Beauty with a Purpose Project, Katherine stated, “With the help of the American Association of People with Disabilities and as Miss New York World, I plan to improve the educational lives of children with learning disabilities and special needs through tutoring, mentoring, as well as bringing awareness to the cause. I believe every child not only has the right to learn but do so in a positive and supportive environment.”
Contestants were judged in the following categories: Runway Competition, Evening Gown, Interview, Public Speaking, and On-Stage Question (Finalists).
