Learni Proud to Join the Student Privacy Pledge
(PRWEB UK) 4 March 2015 -- Together with leading Ed Tech companies including Microsoft, Google, Apple, KhanAcademy and Edmodo, Learni signs the pledge to safeguard student data.
Lesson management pioneer, Learni today announced its commitment to advancing student data privacy collection. Created by the Future of Privacy Forum (FPF) and the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the Student Privacy Pledge is already backed by some of education technology’s most principle players.
Meir Lebi, Learni CEO explained the importance of the Pledge to the Learni team, “We are honored to be among the first to sign the Student Privacy Pledge, an important step towards better protecting our children in the 21st century digital landscape. As an Ed Tech company, serving students responsibly is part of our DNA, and that applies in equal measure to all our data methods.”
The Pledge details ongoing industry practices that meet and go well beyond federal K to 12 privacy requirements. Service providers are encouraged to more clearly adhere to and articulate these practices, generating greater confidence in how they handle student data.
Mr. Lebi continued, “For us the Pledge doesn’t just communicate school and parent expectations of service providers, it offers us the opportunity demonstrate our commitment to the education community. We operate complex algorithms to provide teachers with actionable and meaningful student data so they can help every child reach their optimal potential. For example, during an assessment, teachers know which students need help based not only on performance, but also on personal pace. At all times students’ data should be protected. Partnering with educational publishers and content providers, we feel it’s crucial to take this kind of responsibility at the very start of the chain.”
