Louisiana Lottery Partners with Tony Chachere’s Creole Foods – Launches a Spicy New Scratch-Off Game

The Louisiana Lottery is giving its players and retailers a chance to spice up their wallets with a new $2 scratch-off game, Spice It Up! featuring a top prize of $10,000. Launched today, the game represents a strategic alliance with Tony Chachere’s Creole Foods of Opelousas Inc., which manufactures Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning in the iconic green canister available in restaurants and grocery stores around the globe and in nearly every Louisiana pantry.

“The Lottery has a long history of partnering with Louisiana brands to celebrate our unique cultural heritage,” said Lottery President Rose Hudson. “Tony Chachere’s is an endearing brand that captures the entrepreneurial spirit of Louisianans and their affinity for home cooking. Sprinkle in the chance to win money and you’ve got the recipe for one hot-selling ticket.”

The Lottery printed more than 960,000 Spice it Up! tickets with the green Tony Chachere’s seasoning can pictured in the scratch-off area. The game contains over $1 million in cash prizes, including four top prizes of $10,000. Overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 4.35.

Revenue potential for the game is $1.7 million, 35 percent of which is transferred to the state for K-12 public education as is the case with all of Lottery sales.

In addition to an advertising campaign featuring the animated “Little Tony” character from Tony Chachere’s product packaging, the Lottery will also conduct social media promotions for “Stock Your Pantry” prize packages using the hashtag #spiceupyourwallet to encourage fans to share their favorite use of Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning.

The Louisiana Lottery was in the top 10 lotteries for scratch-off sales growth last fiscal year. It has enjoyed success with numerous Louisiana-themed scratch-offs and strategic partnerships, including the New Orleans Saints, Crystal Hot Sauce, Duck Dynasty® and Choot ‘Em® to name a few.
