Durrie Vision First in Region to Offer New Tecnis® Multifocus Lenses
Overland Park, KS (PRWEB) March 04, 2015 -- Durrie Vision, a Kansas City-based ophthalmology and refractive surgery practice, is the first in the region to offer two new intraocular lenses (IOLs) to patients seeking treatment for presbyopia and cataracts. The implantable Tecnis® Multifocal lenses – now offered in varying strengths – are designed to improve vision at a range of distances. Earlier this year the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the use of two new IOLs – the Tecnis® Multifocal +2.75D and +3.25D developed by Abbott. Dr. Jason Stahl, refractive surgeon and Durrie Vision’s IOL department director, sees this as a significant innovation in IOL technology. “We’re thrilled to offer the Tecnis® Multifocal lenses to our patients. Anytime we can improve upon an already successful procedure by customizing the options available, it positively impacts both visual outcomes and patient satisfaction.”
The premium IOLs are implanted in the eye during a Refractive Lens Exchange or advanced cataract surgery. Earlier this month Dr. Stahl was the first surgeon in Kansas and the Kansas City metro to perform a procedure utilizing one of the new Multifocal lenses. Key visual and lifestyle benefits of the lenses include the ability to:
- Correct all distances of vision – near, intermediate, and far
- Improve night vision
- Reduce or eliminate use of reading glasses and/or bifocals
- Read fine print in all light conditions, including low light
According to Dr. Stahl, these benefits – paired with the varying IOL power options now available – allow for a highly customized patient experience. “With the premium Multifocal lenses, we are able to develop a treatment plan that not only addresses the patient’s refractive error, but is also designed to fit their individual lifestyle and activity needs.” Durrie Vision is committed to bringing the most advanced technology to its patients and is pleased to add the Tecnis® Multifocal Lenses to its offerings.
