CSU-Global Holds Industry Advisory Meetings to Advance Student Success in the Workplace
Greenwood Village, Colo. (PRWEB) March 13, 2015 -- For Colorado State University-Global Campus (CSUGlobal.edu), its product is not just stellar degree programs for students, but also graduates who have the knowledge and skills needed to be successful in the workplace. To ensure it is excelling at both these expectations, the online university is hosting a series of Programmatic Advisory Boards which allow it to ensure its graduates are ready to meet the needs of today’s career fields.
“I applaud CSU-Global Campus on the advisory board meeting that I was honored to be a part of,” says Demetrius Parker, Talent Acquisition Manager for Jefferson County. “It was very refreshing to see a group of educators being so open to new ideas, thoughts, and communication from their partners. I’ve sat on other educational advisory boards before and it was mostly about what could we the businesses do for them. CSU-Global Campus seems to have a more what can we do for each other approach.”
The public, online state university has always utilized industry experts and advisory boards to build and revise its degree programs based on current industry and technology trends. However, the current schedule of Programmatic Advisory Boards is an additional step in ensuring academic learning outcomes facilitate career needs and affect curriculum so that students, potential future employees, possess the skills and knowledge to make an impact and drive an organization forward.
“By bringing in our affiliate network of professionals, industry leaders, and hiring managers from across the country in every industry where we have an academic program we can get more rounded and diverse feedback on all of our programs,” says Colorado State University-Global Campus Provost and Senior Vice President, Dr. Jon Bellum. “This is a great way for us to find out more thoroughly what each industry is looking for when they hire or promote someone. This really does benefit both our students and the employer."
The advisory board for CSU-Global’s Business programs was held Friday, March 6, 2015 with experts from 11 different industries participating. The advisory board for CSU-Global’s Criminal Justice programs was held Monday, March 9, 2015 with representatives from state and local government agencies. Other Programmatic Advisory Board meetings, including healthcare and technology, will be held later this spring.
CSU-Global Campus currently serves over 400 affiliates, from government agencies to corporations, offering their employees tuition discounts, relevant coursework, and a solid foundation of knowledge to complete their bachelor’s degree, earn their master’s, or gain skills in career relevant areas.
