“We’re thrilled to bring our beloved New York City service to Chicago and D.C. residents who need a storage solution that works for their busy, on-the-go lifestyles,” said Sam Rosen, MakeSpace founder and CEO.
NEW YORK, NY (PRWEB) March 03, 2015
MakeSpace, the startup transforming the self-storage industry, today announced the expansion of its five-star rated New York City service to the Chicago and Washington, D.C. markets. Now, Chicago residents and businesses can free up much needed living and working space by scheduling a MakeSpace appointment online. Come early April, D.C. residents will have the same opportunity. MakeSpace works in three easy steps:
1. Users schedule a delivery, online or by phone, and a MakeSpace Uploader delivers high-quality bins right to their door.
2. After users fill their bins with keepsakes and belongings to store, a MakeSpace Uploader whisks them away to its secure storage facility.
3. At its secure storage facility, MakeSpace creates a visual catalog of each bin so the user always knows what’s in storage. Users can request bins be returned to them with just a few clicks, whenever and wherever they want.
This expansion will give Chicago and D.C. residents and businesses access to a simple, convenient and affordable storage solution. No longer will they need to be tied to their physical belongings or deal with the hassles of traditional self-storage. MakeSpace will now do all the heavy lifting in these markets, making residents rethink how they feel about their belongings and be able to use the service as a lifestyle extension.
“We’re thrilled to bring our beloved New York City service to Chicago and D.C. residents who need a storage solution that works for their busy, on-the-go lifestyles,” said Sam Rosen, MakeSpace founder and CEO. “With MakeSpace, users never have to visit a storage facility again. We will pick up, store and redeliver users’ belongings, whenever it’s convenient for them.”
With one in 10 American households renting a storage unit, this expansion confirms MakeSpace’s commitment to take on the $24 billion a year self-storage industry. MakeSpace also has an opportunity to grow the market, as customers who previously would never have used self-storage are using MakeSpace as an extension of the home, acting as a second or third closet.
“We are the clear leader in the New York City market, and this year we are focused on the expansion of that service into other urban cities that share some of the same traits – particularly the lack of space and time,” said Rosen. “We are now poised to take on and transform an entire industry, one that has never truly changed. Chicago and D.C. seemed like the logical next markets to do just that.”
For those residing outside of New York City, Chicago and D.C., MakeSpace partners with UPS to bring the same hassle-free experience with its MakeSpace Air service.
