BARCELONA, Spain (PRWEB) March 05, 2015
Powerley, the provider of home energy management products and solutions, today at Mobile World Congress 2015, announced its official company launch. Powerley is a joint venture between Vectorform, a leading global design and technology firm, and DTE Energy, the electric and gas utility serving millions of customers in Michigan. The new company becomes the first customizable, real-time home energy management platform for utility companies designed to enable consumers to discover, understand and improve energy consumption and savings in an effective and interactive way.
In partnership with DTE Energy, Vectorform designed and built DTE Insight, a groundbreaking home energy management experience that launched in July 2014 for DTE Energy customers. DTE Insight, which includes an energy management mobile app for iOS and Android and a companion Energy Bridge device that syncs with a home’s Advanced Meter to provide real-time energy usage data, has experienced unprecedented customer demand with over 45,000 downloads. Based on the success of the platform, Vectorform and DTE joined forces to create Powerley to offer the same innovative technology to utilities and their customers across the United States, Canada and Europe. The DTE Insight story was presented yesterday during the Mobile Gamification session at Mobile World Congress and the fully customizable experience will become commercially available immediately.
“When DTE Insight was launched last July, DTE Energy became the first utility to offer an interactive, real-time mobile application tool for customers to understand and reduce their energy usage,” said Dave Meador, DTE Energy vice chairman and chief administrative officer. “It’s been met with tremendous customer interest and usage, and this joint venture will help take the technology to other utilities looking for similar solutions.”
“For the first time ever, people can now engage directly with their energy usage and not just their bill,” said Kevin Foreman, chief technology officer at Powerley. “Our Energy Bridge and Insight app offer personalized and actionable insights allowing people to instantly recognize how, when and where they use energy and to also monitor daily consumption and history in order to save money.”
Powerley’s app allows users to link their home’s advanced meter to their smartphone, thereby placing real-time home energy usage data at the consumers’ fingertips. Once a utility offers Powerley to its customers, the company will ship the Powerley Energy Bridge to participating homes with Advanced Meters. Customers simply plug the small hardware device into their home network, download the Powerley app, and will then see a complete, real-time breakdown of their home’s energy consumption. Powerley data gives customers the ability and guidance to set goals, reduce utility costs and compare usage with friends, family and their community.
Powerley’s App features include:
- The fastest real-time energy platform that gives utility customers a second-by-second look into their energy consumption patterns.
- PowerScan, the patent-pending tool that gives iPhone users the ability to view energy consumption and monthly operating cost of any electrical device just by holding their phone up to any electrical wire.
- Personalized energy-saving tips and projects that suggest and encourage home improvement projects specific to each home.
- Gamification: weekly challenges designed to engage and reward users for saving energy and completing challenges. Connect with friends and groups within the community, compare performance, share encouragement and get energy-saving insight.
Powerley plans to roll out additional innovative features and functionality for the Insight platform to include the ability to control home appliances and electronics and more home automation offerings. For more information visit http://www.powerley.com.
