NFL’s Terrell Owens Reveals Why He May Have Been “Blacklisted”, Gives Advice to Derrick Rose and Explains His Comeback on Maria Menounos' Black Hollywood Live
Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) March 04, 2015 -- NFL free agent Terrell Owens sat down for an in depth interview with Maria Menounos’ network, Black Hollywood Live, for an opportunity to showcase a different side of him.
In his prime, Terrell Owens was an elite receiver that terrorized opposing team’s secondarys. He was electrifying on the field, and often known for his infamous touchdown celebrations. “My favorite (touchdown celebration) of all time was the poms poms,” Owens stated. He was one of the most productive receivers in the history of the NFL, currently sitting at #3 on the all-time receiving touchdowns list.
While his production on the field was unequivocal, his antics off the field were often a subject of controversy. His character issues have led to unceremonious departures from the 49ers, Eagles, and Cowboys. And unfortunately, he feels that’s the reason why he may have been “blacklisted” from NFL. “With all the things (issues) that I’ve done in my career, a lot of owners general managers feel that I would be a distraction for their team…I think it has to do with character issues,” Owens shared.
Throughout his career, Owens was often praised for his unparalleled work ethic. Though he had suffered from numerous injuries throughout the course of his career, he was always able to bounce back almost immediately. When asked about Derrick Rose’s long list of injuries, he said “I think if he got better rehab treatment, he would be better off…I honestly feel that there are better people that he needs in his corner.” Coincidentally, Owens had received treatment from the same woman that’s currently treating Rose.
Owens was not shy about opening up about his new endeavors away from football. One of his biggest passions is helping the next generation. He is currently establishing the “What TO do” foundation which is an outreach program for kids. “What I want to do for kids is give them the inspiration and motivation for them to know that they can make it…I was never the biggest, fastest, or strongest…that’s why I want kids to know that they can make it if they put in that extra effort,” Owens stated.
Owens is still hoping for another shot in the NFL. When asked if he could still dominate in the NFL today, Owens answered “Absolutely.” With the inaugural NFL veteran combine coming up, Owens has stated that he has already registered. Get your popcorn ready!
