The Bergand Group, Maryland's Leading Addiction Recovery Center, Expands with Office in Harford County
FALLSTON, MARYLAND (PRWEB) March 06, 2015 -- The Bergand Group is excited to announce the opening of their second office, located just outside of Bel Air in Fallston, MD. The decision to expand into Harford County was driven by the overwhelming need for substance abuse treatment services and addiction recovery centers in the area. For years The Bergand Group has heard from the community about the growing epidemic of drug use and the accompanying circle of denial and stigmatization of co-occurring disorders. Since they began discussions with the healthcare community, the legal community, and the local government, The Bergand Group has received nothing but remarkably positive feedback. Joe Ryan, the Manager of the Office for Drug Control Policies in Harford County, shares that The Bergand Group’s new office in Harford County “is a great asset to help fight addiction for our communities. The Bergand Group is a first class treatment facility and we look forward to them serving our citizens.” Harford County is ready to welcome a private intensive outpatient treatment program like The Bergand Group.
The Bergand Group was co-founded by Dr. John Steinberg and Dr. Paul Giannandrea. These two experienced and complimentary doctors created a true Dual Diagnosis and Co-Occurring Disorder treatment program at The Bergand Group. Our doctors each have over 30 years of experience in treating substance abuse and related mental health issues. Dr. Steinberg was instrumental in starting the addiction medicine programs at GBMC, where he served as the first head of the Division of Addiction Medicine in the Department of Medicine from 1986 through 1991. He was also elected and served as President of the Maryland Society of Addiction Medicine the Department of Medicine from 1986 through 1991 and as President of the Maryland Society of Addiction Medicine from 1990 through 2005. Dr. Giannandrea is a Psychiatrist certified in Addiction Medicine and a former Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at University of Maryland School of Medicine. In 1987 he developed a comprehensive system of care through the University of Maryland Practice Association (that included the Employee and Professional Assistance Programs), the VA Drug Dependency Program, UMMC outpatient clinics, and Pathways Treatment Center.
The Bergand Group offers varying levels of intensity in outpatient services, both individual and group. Each one of their clients receives treatment and attention in both group and individual settings. The Bergand Group is pleased to provide the highest-level of clinical care to every person that walks through their doors. In addition to their intensive outpatient program, The Bergand Group provides outpatient detox, medication management, weekly aftercare programs, individual counseling and psychotherapy, family therapy, and anger management courses. The Bergand Group also offers a variety of DUI/DWI education programs, including a 12-hour intensive experience for first-time offenders and a one-hour program for those who need additional support and counseling for 26 to 52 weeks.
Many of The Bergand Group's current patients travel from Harford County to receive services in their Lutherville location. This expansion means that they can serve the community in the same way that they serve their Baltimore County community. The Bergand Group is now accepting patients and referrals and are honored to be serving the Howard County area.
