D4 Creative Wins “Best of Show” Louix Award at 86th Annual Philadelphia Art Directors’ Club Gala and Communication Arts Magazine 56th Illustration Annual Competition

"Torn Apart" campaign non-traditional illustrative artwork captures national attention for D4 Creative as the agency also won three other Gold Loiux Awards.

Our goal was unique in that we wanted to create a campaign that created homage to people, not cases.

D4 Creative, one of Philadelphia’s top advertising agencies, won “Best of Show” in 86th Annual Philadelphia Art Directors' Club Awards Gala in the Non-Traditional category for the illustrative artwork created for the “Torn Apart” brand campaign that the agency created for the law firm, Pond Lehocky Stern Giordano. Three other Gold Louix Awards were also won by D4 including: one for American Red Cross in the TV Film Video category; and two more for "Torn Apart" in Ambient Small Scale and Non-traditional categories.

The three "Torn Apart" illustrations of Francis Elliot, George Beerley, and Barbara Daquilante were featured in some of the advertising tactics, and also were blown up as part of the architectural design of the law firm’s new offices in Philadelphia.

D4’s Executive Creative Director Rich Wakefield wanted to bring the “Torn Apart” campaign, which included TV spots and out-of-home, to life with the idea of making collage-style art directly out of the shreds of actual case files documents, medical forms, insurance bills, and other records of real life people that the law firm represented in life altering work-related injuries.

Rich commented, "Our goal was unique in that we wanted to create a campaign that created homage to people, not cases. Our agency is always looking for the higher purpose our clients have to offer."

D4 contracted renowned collage artist, Ian Wright from the United Kingdom, to bring the concept to fruition. Ian added, “At the end of the day these individuals would rather have their lives back than to be rich and injured. I think it’s a really emotional thing to be able to tell these individuals’ stories by taking their files out of dark storage and shining a bright light on their courage."
